I like to use baguettes or my wife's homemade bread for sandwiches. So, a good bread knife is a must for us. I've used this knife to slice breads and baguettes into slices as well as to cut baguettes into 4" chunks to use as sandwich rolls. I also used it to slice 4" chunks of baguette lengthwise for sandwiches. This knife performed very well with all types of breads. The handle is comfortable and the blade is very sharp. It's an excellent knife and a great value too.

While a slicing knife isn't something most cooks use daily, they are a necessity for large cuts of meats. It's barbecue season as I write this so I've tested this knife on meats like brisket that required longing cooking for tenderness. Even on very tender meats, the knife sliced cleanly. Its sharpness allows very thin slices if, for example, you want to slice leftovers for sandwiches. A great value too! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a slicing knife.

I already had three quality chef's knives made by Zwilling J. A. Henckels and Sabatier in the block when I bought this knife. However, since I got the Swiss Classic knife, it's become my "go to" knife for practically all prep work. The blade is razor sharp and allows me to make paper thin slices of vegetables when I need to. The blade is also wider than a standard chef knife so I'm not banging the knuckles of my size 10 hands on the board when I'm slicing stuff! The handle is comfortable, non-slip and somewhat ergonomic but I prefer the ergonomic handle of my Zwilling J. A. Henckels as it fits my hand better. My ancient 40+ year old Sabatier carbon steel knife has been my fav for many years but I had to use a paring knife to peel and slice garlic before chopping with a chef's knife. With the Swiss Classic, I'm able to do the whole job on garlic with one knife. Unless you want to spend a LOT more money, you can't do any better than this chef's knife.

I bought a Calphalon Santoku knife a year or two ago. It quickly became my "standard" knife. I used to use my 2 10" Henckels chef's knives for practically all slicing and dicing but this "little" knife has taken over most of my knife work with the 10" knives reserved for larger jobs.
I was so pleased with this knife that I recently bought 2 more as gifts.

I used to bake or smoke whole chickens using the beer can technique - put herbs and spices in half a can of beer and stand the chicken up with the beer can inside it. But, a chicken on a beer can isn't very stable! The chicken in a can may easily tip over. This tool solves that problem and gives great results. I bought the set of 2 so that I could make enough chicken for a summer dinner party of 6 - 10 people. I figure one pound per person. So, I use 2 cornish game hens for 6 people or 2 5# chickens for 8 - 10 folks. I clean the inside of the tube with a bottle brush.

I bought this rack after smoking 3 racks of spareribs. Even on a 22" diameter smoker, 3 racks was a tight fit. This rack makes it VERY easy to fit 3 or 4 racks of ribs in my smoker. I chose this one because it folds flat and is stainless steel. If stuff gets baked on, I can scrub it with a wire grill brush without harming it.

We've own one of these for years and recently purchased a second one. I use it all the time for grilling boneless meats and vegetables. I also use it to grill sandwiches: anything from grilled cheese to hot pastrami to pannini style sandwiches.
Grilling boneless meats with the lid closed is quite fast; roughly half the time it would take when cooking from one side only. The meat browns perfectly and comes out quite juicy.
Good capacity too! Even with the lid closed, you can easiily fit 2 ribeye steaks or 4 - 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts.

This is absolutely the best grinder I have ever owned. My wife bought me one as a present because I'd been disappointed with other spice mills. I used it for pepper corns the first day and liked it so much I ordered 2 more so I could leave black pepper corns in one and use the new ones for other spices.
