I have moved to a home with an electric stove with glass surface from a beloved gas stove, so I had to replace my classic wok with a round-bottomed one. A wok is a basic necessity for me. First I bought a no-stick wok, and, as I've experienced in the past, no matter how carefully I try to care for it, the surface disintegrates. When I saw dark specks in my food, I realized it was time to buy the real McCoy. This steel wok is a good cooking utensil with even heat, solid quality, no frills; it does the job It's a pleasure. Yes, you have to season it with oil before first use. Then I clean it soon after cooking by adding water and stirring with a bamboo whisk, made for the job. No detergent. To thoroughly dry, it should be heated. If it loses its seasoning and gets rust, you heat oil and then rub salt on it to clean. It doesn't come with a lid, which can easily be purchased.

I'm pleased with the size and feel of this simple, fairly inexpensive knife. It's my first knife purchase in a long time, so the design was new to me. I like the tapered handle where no crumbs can lodge.
