I bought the 6" Wusthof Classic as a gift to myself after a friend let me try out her Wustof, it was love at first slice. I had been looking for a knife that fit my hand well and had a good balance. This is my favorite knife in my tool kit and I am going to replace all of my work and home knives with Wustofs.
Wusthof Classic Serrated Bread Knife : The perfect all-around bread knife cuts smoothly through everything from slender, crusty baguettes to softer sandwich breads. The serrated edge also makes it terrific for slicing tomatoes. For large, round artisan breads, the blade gives you the length and control you need. The serrated edge penetrates heavy crusts without tearing the softer interior. I will never buy another brand of bread knife again. I got the bread knife and some other Wusthof items for Christmas. Of course I had to try it out, it sliced through the bread without tearing, ripping or smashing it. I had so much fun using it, that I ended up slicing the bread into croutons. Love this knife!
