As other reviewers have mentioned, this french oven is a wonderful addition to any kitchen - easy to clean, retains heat well, etc etc - I'd just like to add that it looks BEAUTIFUL on the table when you're serving up a hearty casserole to a large group, and the food stays warm inside it for a long time. (Just don't let anyone lift the lid without a potholder while the handle's still hot!)

Every kitchen needs one

Wonderful addition to any kitchen, great size for casseroles or roasting a whole chicken to juicy perfection. Easy to clean - fill with warm, soapy water, leave for an hour or so and everything wipes right off. I prefer the round shape over the oval because it fits better on an electric stovetop ring. Much better quality than other cast iron brands. Heavy, but less so than the larger sizes - easily manageable even for a weakling like me. And you can't beat the guarantee!

Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt-Sorbet Ice Cream Maker
Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt-Sorbet Ice Cream Maker
Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt-Sorbet Ice Cream Maker : This Cuisinart machine features a heavy-duty motor, automatic mixing arm, double-insulated freezer bowl, and an easy-lock transparent lid. The large spout makes it easy to add ingredients without interrupting the freezing cycle. Nonslip rubber feet ensure stable operation, and cord storage is built in. Comes with a recipe booklet. 50 watts. 9"Dia. x 14"H. The freezer bowl must be completely frozen before you begin your recipe. Before freezing, wash and dry the bowl. Wrap it in a plastic bag to prevent freezer burn. We recommend that you place the freezer bowl in the back of your freezer where it is coldest. Be sure to place the freezer bowl on a flat surface in its upright position for even freezing. The length of time needed to reach the frozen state depends on how cold your freezer is. For the most convenient frozen desserts, leave your freezer bowl in the freezer at all times. You can take it out any time for immediate use. In general freezing time should be a minimum of 12 hours. To determine whether the bowl is completely frozen, shake it. If you do not hear liquid moving, the cooling liquid is frozen. Model: ICE-20. Reminder: Your freezer should be set to 0 F to ensure proper freezing of all foods.

Easy to use, works very well to make wonderful ice cream in minutes. You do have to be sure the bowl is REALLY cold before you start - I prepare the recipe THEN get the bowl out of the freezer and assemble the machine. Comes with plenty of recipes to get you started, but you'll enjoy inventing your own. A great gift for the person who already has everything else.

You get what you pay for

Perfect for any dish that requires long cooking over a low heat, eg oatmeal or small batches of pasta sauce, as well as for roux sauces that can tend to burn on the bottom of thinner pans. Retains heat very well. Due to its small size, it's not too heavy, in fact it's just heavy enough to feel sturdy and not 'tippy'. Even though it is relatively small, its shape somehow allows it to hold more than you would expect. I like the phenolic handle and knob because they don't heat up. In an ideal world, it would be dishwasher-safe, but that's just my laziness speaking - cleanup is actually very quick - if you just leave warm, soapy water in it for an hour or so, everything just wipes right off the enameled surface without any scrubbing. As close to non-stick as you can get without Teflon. I own similar pans made by a different manufacturer, and this one is far superior. Occasionally I forget to dry them off right away, and while the non-Le Creuset ones tend to rust around the rim, my Le Creuset pans never do. I guess you get what you pay for.

I chose this knife because I needed a step up from the Chicago Cutlery type and didn't want to pay big bucks for a Wusthof. I wasn't disappointed - it slices through meat and vegetables like butter, virtually effortlessly. Since this knife arrived in my kitchen, I rarely use anything else. It seems very well constructed, and the non-slip handle feels extremely comfortable to use. I own the 6" version - it is just the right size and weight for my small hands, and is much easier to control than the 8" chef's knife I was using previously.

The classic - every kitchen counter needs one!

I can't believe I was married for over 20 years before I got my Kitchenaid mixer - how did I survive without it?! Don't even think about other brands - this is the classic, the one that will never look dated on your countertop - I heard they even have one in the Smithsonian. It makes my kitchen look like a real cook lives here! (My kids enjoy spotting mom's mixer whenever we're watching a cooking show on TV!) It's sleek, sophisticated and beautifully designed, the mixer head when tilted back fits PERFECTLY under the standard 18" distance between countertop and wall cabinets. Oh, and it whips up some pretty good eats...
Yes, it's expensive - but it costs less than the succession of cheaper mixers you'd buy while this workhorse keeps on going! Worth every penny - just wish I'd bought it years ago...

Never going back to boxed pasta!

This was my first attempt at making pasta - and it was the best I'd ever tasted! It was virtually effortless - I'd even say it was fun. Older kids can definitely do this with supervision - making the dough is as easy as making a cake from a boxed mix. This set only produces flat sheets or fettuccine, but that's enough for me - I didn't want to invest in the set with more cutters and then find I didn't like it. Maybe I'll purchase more cutters in the future. Easy to clean - you let the roller and cutter dry for an hour then use the brush to dust off the dried pasta. I'd definitely recommend this set as an introduction to the world of homemade pasta - a world that I guarantee you'll never leave!
