 Granite Mortar and Pestle
Granite Mortar and Pestle
Granite Mortar and Pestle : Hand-carved of solid granite (the material preferred by top chefs), the mortar and pestle give you ultimate control in grinding and blending spices and herbs. The stone's weight enhances stability and makes pounding easier. Matte finish provides friction for efficient grinding yet won't absorb flavors and odors. The mortar exterior and pestle grip are textured for a firm, comfortable hold. 2-cup mortar: 6"Dia. x 4"H. Pestle: 7"-8"L (varies due to handcraftsmanship). Hand wash. Imported.

Solid, Strong and Handsome -I love him

This is the first mortar and pestle I have owned and I love it. It is larger than I expected, but all the better for grinding without spilling over. And in solid granite it is strong and sturdy and stays put as you work. I love working with fresh whole spices because they offer a stronger flavor. Today I crushed cardamon pods and whole cloves to make Indian chai. Whereas in the past it would have taken a lot of time and effort to crush these with a rolling pin and clean up afterwards, it took no time at all and only a little pressure and a few twists to get perfect results. And the clean up was simple. I leave this mortar and pestle on my kitchen counter where it is handy and looks handsome. I would definitely recommend this to others who like working with fresh whole seeds and grains.

Herb Keeper : Everyone loves the fresh, green herbs you add to dishes to accentuate delectable flavors. Now you can avoid brown, wilting herbs with this air- tight Herb Keeper. Simply add up to 3 bunches of fresh herbs to clear acrylic cylinder, then add water to lower reservoir. Perfect for keeping asparagus, too. Won't absorb fridge odors. Best to hand wash.

Great for Parsley

I grow my own herbs in the summer and purchase fresh organic herbs from my local co-op in the winter. Up to now i have stored what I did not immediately use in a vase or glass with a little water placed on my window sill or in the fridge. I got this herb keeper with hopes it would be a better solution. For some things it is. It works beautifully for parsely. Limp parsley from the store perked up and stayed fresh for days when in this container placed in the fridge. I had less luck with basil. The directions say to keep basil at room temperature, which I did. But the basil soon wilted. At first it was difficult to turn and remove the lower portion of the container. It felt like it would break, so i used the container more like a vase, but this made it difficult to change the water. After some days of use with parsley however, the lower portion became easier to remove. I like this product for parsley, but it may be too tall for small sprigs of rosemary, sage, thyme, etc. Do you have plans to carry a shorter version? If so I would purchase it.

Up to now I have never found a grater that satisfied me like this one does. It is perfect for use as a zester on lemons and limes. It handles with ease (a good handle, and easy to manuever blade),quickly removes the zest while avoiding the bitter white undersection, and is easy to clean. I also like the protective edging along both sides of the blade (contains the zest nicely) and the rubber edged tip. Thank you Chef's for this tool. I will use this tool a lot and definitely recommend it to friends.
